Healthcare Projects
Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center
The Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, a key hospital in the growing Central Pennsylvania region, sits on 27 acres within the 96-acre Brookside development. As the project's land development designer, RETTEW ensured seamless integration with the surrounding community by incorporating pedestrian walkways, ample parking, and open spaces. Overcoming complex approval timelines, utility challenges, and stormwater concerns, we delivered a project commended for its quality and positive impact, earning the ENR MidAtlantic Award of Merit in the Health Care category.
Willow Valley - Providence Park Community Design
Over the course of five years, RETTEW collaborated with Willow Valley Retirement Community to enhance their northern campus and facilities, and create Providence Park, a 114-unit housing development that seamlessly integrates with the existing community. This mixed-use space incorporates apartments, duplexes, single homes, and open spaces like ponds, trails, and a community center, all connected via walkways and roads to the existing Willow Valley infrastructure, fostering a cohesive and resident-friendly environment.
Penn State Health Lancaster Pediatric Center
Penn State Health selected a former Toys"R"Us in Manheim Township for its new pediatric center, aiming to provide convenient specialty care to families in Lancaster County. RETTEW helped transform the 46,800-SF store into a healthcare facility, complete with medical, surgical, and outpatient services. Our services included design, permitting, stormwater management, landscaping, roadway improvements, and even a porte cochère for added convenience. The site plan allows for future expansion, ensuring the center can adapt to growing needs while offering Lancaster families valuable pediatric care close to home.
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community Expansion
Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community needed to expand its existing facilities to offer a larger variety of living options to current and future residents. RETTEW navigated complex zoning and site constraints, including extremely varied topography, collaborating with the client and architect to design a cohesive plan for 180 new cottages, villas, apartments, and a community building. Prioritizing both resident accessibility and budget, RETTEW incorporated well-placed sidewalks and walking paths, ultimately delivering a streamlined solution within the desired timeframe and budget.
