Piedmont Lake Boat Launch Parking Area
RETTEW was chosen by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District to design an expanded parking lot and boat launch at Piedmont Lake. The project aimed to boost capacity with 50 trailer spaces, more regular parking, accessible restrooms and ramps, eco-friendly landscaping, lighting, and a green space. We presented four options that adhered to regulations, then refined them for approval. The full design encompassed surveying, land development, roadwork, utility coordination, construction drawings, and oversight. Despite pandemic hurdles, the improved facility opened to the public the following season.
Peace Church Deformation Monitoring Survey
Facing potential structural concerns after more than 200 years, the historic Peace Church, now managed by the Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission (PHMC) and the support of volunteers, enlisted RETTEW's expertise. Over the course of five years, RETTEW is employing their specialized equipment and experienced staff to meticulously monitor the church's movement and deformations, providing crucial data for PHMC to determine any necessary preservation or construction projects. This ensures the beloved landmark's safety and enjoyment for future generations.
Roadway Void Detection Survey
To address dangerous road conditions caused by poor drainage and subsidence in central Pennsylvania, RETTEW's geophysics team employed a unique combination of four surveying techniques to pinpoint the culprit - hidden voids and active water pathways. This comprehensive approach revealed two "mass-deficient zones" causing sinkholes and flooding, prompting recommendations for improved drainage and targeted repairs. Further anomalies identified beyond the initial survey area led to an expanded project, helping the local municipality proactively prevent future sinkholes in the surrounding area.
Lancaster Police Station Site Development
The Lancaster City Bureau of Police required a modern, secure, and spacious headquarters. RETTEW partnered with a specialist architect to deliver a new 4-story, 60,000-SF facility catering to their specific needs. RETTEW provided crucial services like surveying, structural engineering, and land development planning, successfully tackling challenges related to the firing range, laboratories, communication center, and overall security. The resulting $12 million dollar project provided the police bureau with a state-of-the-art headquarters to serve the community effectively.
